Camp Blue Diamond Directions

Before checking out the Directions to CBD below please note:
The bridge over Shaver’s Creek near the intersection of Diamond Valley Rd. and Bethel Rd. about ½ mile east of Petersburg will be closed for construction from March 19 until July. Detour signs are posted. Please give yourself a few extra minutes to get to camp during this construction.

If you print off the Detour Map you will notice three options for getting around the construction:

  1. Globe Run Rd. (Purple highlighted road) For those coming from Lewistown, State College and points east of CBD turn right onto Globe Run Rd. about one west beyond Mooresville.  This is the ‘Back Entrance’. Most people from these towns use this entrance anyhow. It is a sometimes paved, sometimes dirt road, but is very manageable. Just stay on this road for a total of 3 miles, don’t take any turns. Watch for Detour signs. If there is snow or ice on the road, do not go this way (unless you have all-wheel drive), but take Bethel Rd. instead.
  2. Bethel Rd. (Orange highlighted road). This is a second option if you are coming from State College, Lewistown and points east of CBD. About two miles west of Globe Run Rd., turn right onto Bethel Rd, next to the Bethel Presbyterian Church. You will travel about three miles on this road before coming to Diamond Valley Rd. Turn right onto Diamond Valley Rd. Stay on Diamond Valley Rd. to camp - about 6 miles.
  3. Barree Rd./Brookside Rd/Diehls Rd. (Yellow highlighted roads). For those coming from the west: Morrison’s Cove, Huntingdon, Altoona etc… this is your route. It is actually shorter than Diamond Valley Rd., and many people know it as the ‘short-cut to camp’. After going through Alexandria on Rt. 305, travel a ½ mile past the Juniata Valley H.S., crossing the Little Juniata River, and the railroad bridge. At the railroad bridge there is a stop sign. At this stop sign turn left onto Barree Rd. Travel less than two miles on Barree Rd. and turn right onto Brookside Rd. (there is a yellow ranch house at this turn). After about 1 mile you will come to a stop sign. Go straight onto Diehls Rd. Travel less than 1 mile on Diehl’s road. At the dead end, turn right and go over the yellow bridge, then immediately turn left and go on Diamond Valley Rd. You are now in the state forest and 4.7 miles to camp.

Camp Blue Diamond is located midway between State College and Huntingdon, PA, within Rothrock State Forest. It is on Diamond Valley Rd., seven miles northeast of Petersburg, or three miles north of Cottage (State Rt. 305) on Globe Run Rd. For a detailed map of the Camp Blue Diamond property print off the Map of CBD.

For the best directions to Camp Blue Diamond, print off the Directions or read them below. It is not difficult to get to Camp Blue Diamond, but do not rely on a GPS device. Since Camp Blue Diamond is within a state forest, some roads are only suitable for 4X4 vehicles. To avoid these 'logging roads' follow the Directions below or find us on Google Maps.

You can locate Camp Blue Diamond with Google Maps, just type in 'Camp Blue Diamond'. This will give you a very accurate map to camp, though it may make you drive on a passable gravel road or two. To avoid gravel roads completely see the directions below. You can locate Camp Blue Diamond with MapQuest, type in Diamond Valley Rd., Petersburg, PA 16669. This will give you a good map and directions, but not as good as Google Maps.

If you need further assistance, please contact the camp office at (814) 667-2355 or email .
