Brethren Open Golf Tournament - Aug. 13

Despite heavy rains at the beginning of the event, Camp Blue Diamond and the Middle PA District Center had a fantastic 25th Brethren Open Golf Tournament. Thanks to the 32 sponsors and 114 golfers that made the day a success raising over $11,000 for the camp and district. Afterwards a banquet was provided by Frederick’s Meat Market at the Albright CoB! Summer Cabin Facelift

Fall 2019 Maintenance Project

Andrew Wenger and camp staffers Brian, Amanda and Dean just completed a two month building project at CBD. The ten summer camp cabins which were constructed between 1999 and 2005 all got a facelift. About 120 hours was spent power washing the cabins and then staining them.

It took over 40 gallons of stain. They look great! Check them out when you drop off campers next summer! We noticed that the oldest six cabins need new roofs, but that will be a job for next year.

Andrew also spent time improving the cabins' fire circles, clearing trails, trimming along the main road, and other camp maintenance needs. Andrew was on temporary loan to CBD after graduating from Lancaster Theological Seminary. He has accepted a call to the Springfield Church of the Brethren in Akron, OH, and will be starting after Thanksgiving. We wish him, wife Lauren and daughter Grace blessings as they begin the next chapter in their lives.

Capital Campaign

CBD's capital campaign is progressing nicely, with  fundraising done, pledges coming in, and building projects underway. The $650,000 goal of the campaign was smashed with $688,000 pledged for building projects, and  an additional $52,500 pledged to the Reserve for Replacement Fund. 42 churches, 160 families, and 2 organizations made pledges.

Heritage Fair Raises nearly $30,000

Thanks to all the churches and volunteers that made Middle PA District's 39th annual Heritage Fair a great success. After expenses about $26,000 was made for District and Camp ministries. Heritage Fair is the place to see friends old and new, eat great food, have fun, fill your pantry & enjoy CBD!

For children there was a special area with scarecrow making, face painting, a bounce house, the sawdust pile, and lots of games and activities. Adults and youth enjoyed musicians, food and craft booths, displays, the Diamond Dash 5K run/walk and the Dunk Tank. The newly finished Heritage Fair District Quilt was displayed for all to see. It will be sold at the 40th annual Heritage Fair, September 19, 2020. See you there.

Check out the all the photos above (there's about 30) to see what's happening at Heritage Fair. A special thanks to Della Watters who took many of the Heritage Fair photos.

Heritage Fair 2020

Heritage Fair is Camp Blue Diamond's and the 55 Churches of Middle PA District's celebration of family, friends, faith, food and fun! Everyone is welcome! It's the best, little festival! Extremely kid friendly. Make plans to be at next year's fair on Sept. 19.
