Camp Blue Diamond is a Church Camp!
We are a Church Camp. It is affiliated with the Church of the Brethren, a denomination well represented with 53 congregations in central PA (Huntingdon, Centre, Blair, Bedford and Mifflin counties).
The Brethren put a strong emphasis on the New Testament scriptures and the teachings of Jesus. They believe in baptism by choice, that Jesus is the Son of God, that the Holy Spirit is God's presence in the world today, All members should read and study the Bible carefully, and that all believers should practice social justice, simple living, and peaceful nonresistance to violence.
Brethren believe each person needs to discover their own faith. No child attending Camp will be told what to believe, but will be challenged to learn from Jesus's words, lessons and model. Children of all faiths (or no faith) are invited to attend.
At Blue Diamond your child will have daily Bible Discovery, which will last about 30 minutes. They will be taught scriptural lessons from the Bible, and Jesus's life will be held up as an example. They will have morning watches and evening campfires that include biblical lessons, and before meals they will have a prayer.
Bible Discovery Theme - Another Way
Jesus often confronted the world around him with another way of being and by his example, we are reminded that God always invites us to reimagine who we are and how we do things. Being at camp, we are already finding another way, apart from the trappings and distractions of home. In the peace of this space, we will explore what would change if we lived as our authentic selves and respected the truths of others. In this humility, we will imagine how growing changes the way we live. In this potential for transformation, we will imagine how our personal change meets the change we seek in the world. Whether we are addressing unfair rules or dreaming of a time when all people belong, we know that God calls us to do a new thing and faithfully forge another way.
